Day 3: Operation Sickness.

So Riley got her shots on Tuesday (just 2 of them because I haven't decided a. which others she's getting and b. when she's getting the ones that I know she should have) and Wednesday got sent home with a slight fever. (That's a story all in itself!) She has been pretty steadily fluctuating between a normal temp and 101-102. The fun part of this sickness is that she can't go to daycare, which means that either Mom or Dad need to be home with her. What makes staying home fun is that even though she's "sick" (running a temp) she's in great spirits and having a lot of fun. So here are some pics of her third day of sickness, hour 3.

I AM MOM.

I love that "baba" means bottle, baby and bye bye.
So Dan is surprised that I took to motherhood so well. I love it. I was meant to do this. I want another. Not right now of course, but let's keep in mind pregnancy is really long. Like almost a year. So, really let's think about this, if I want Riley and the next one within 3 years of each other and Riley is turning 1, we're going to need to think about getting pregnant within the next year. (Yikes!) BUT. I will NOT bring another baby into an apartment unless it is within 6 months of closing on a house. (They are in the room with us for the first 6 months so thats where this comes in). I want my babies to have a backyard to run around in and a house to grow up in. So I'm motivated. We NEED to get out of debt.
We sold Dans car and paid off a credit card. Dan is trying hard to book speaking engagements, which is awesome extra income. (And he's so good at it! Seriously, if you know a University that needs some programming, check out campusspeak, OR a greek community that needs some help examining their image, you can book Dan directly!)
I want another baby. But we have some SERIOUS work to do first.

August is already here..

August is here, and Riley's 1st birthday is just around the corner! It's amazing how fast this past year has gone.
This next year will hopefully bring around a lot of great changes. I'll be teaching Kindergarten, Dan is in full steam still at LMU and Riley will bring us on a whole new adventure as a full blown, running child.
My hopes for this year: A healthy, happy, safe family. A successful work year. A little more financial stability. A lot of fun new memories.

Just let me be legally blonde....

Now that Riley's personality is showing more, it's evident that she may have Dad's looks, but she sure has Mom's personality! Her likes include: Animals (Mainly kitty cats and puppies) , the water, music and dancing (mainly to broadway musicals). LOVE her! She also seems partial to the movie Ace Ventura Pet Detective, but I'm not sure if that's just the one closest for her to pull off the shelf, or if she in fact likes the case...

Thoughts.

Yesterday was my last day as a first grade teacher. Kindergarten here I come!

Riley has her thousandth cold of the season. So does Dan. AGH!

Riley has 6 teeth, is crawling everywhere, cruising along the furniture, and just recently, standing without holding on to anything. She looks very funny just standing there, not sure of what to do next, but she just laughs and laughs.

I love my laughing baby with the monkey toes!
